Stunner Carolina Benassi said she lost her memory and never got it back after she suffered herpes encephalitis four years ago.

And the gorgeous brunette now plans to take part in the 11th season of the Big Brother series in Argentina at the end of the year to share her story and see whether she can remember again.

Carolina said in an interview with Argentinian media: “My name is Carolina and I have a very strange life story. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to tell it very well.

“I had a brain virus in 2019 and I lost my memory, so I am seeing if I can participate and recover something from my previous life, from everything I lost with the disease.

“The people who know me and my doctors know what I experienced.”

Carolina explained that she was struck by the herpes simplex virus that caused a rare condition called herpes simplex encephalitis (HSE), or simply herpes encephalitis, affecting only one in 500,000 individuals per year.

She said: “I don’t remember anything before 2019. Everything I know about myself I was told by others.

“Now I live with my mother. I used to live in Mexico, I came here and two days before I returned, it all started.”

When asked about how she contracted the virus, Carolina said: “It is not known, it may be something that I caught in Mexico, but it is not known. They say it happened to me because I had a weak immune system.”

Caroline continued: “At first I had a headache, they told me it was sinusitis.

“Until one day, when I woke up, my mom thought I was on drugs because I didn’t recognise her.

“They took me to the clinic to see what was wrong and they almost put me in a psychiatric ward for not understanding anything.”

Caroline said that despite not being able to remember her mum, she still felt that she loved her.

She explained how she was hospitalised for a month and a half before she was discharged and scheduled for therapy.

The woman said: “Cognitive, psychologists, psychiatrists. Over time, they reduced some of them, but I continued my psychologist and psychiatric therapies.”

When asked if her family and friends noticed any changes in her personality following the memory loss, she said: “A lot. It’s like I was born again.”

She added: “There are almost no cases similar to mine.”
