The controversial Pablo Escobar Museum, run by the cartel boss’ brother, has been taken over by Colombian authorities.

Officials from the Attorney General’s Office have moved to seize the Pablo Escobar Museum, located in the exclusive Poblado sector in Medellin on Thursday, 19th October.

The property was in the name of Gilma Aidee Urdinola Ospina, a woman for whom there are no public records about who she is, according to local media.

Additionally, she reportedly has a lease-to-lease agreement with Roberto Escobar Gaviria, one of Pablo Escobar’s brothers.

Colombian Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement obtained by Newsflash on 20th October: “A prosecutor from the Specialized Directorate for Extinction of Property Rights together with the leadership of the Delegate for Criminal Finances has moved to seize the property in which articles were kept linked to the former head of the extinct ‘Medellín Cartel’ and his criminal history.”

The museum had t-shirts, key chains, caps, busts, carriers, ponchos, notebooks, stamps, footwear and more with the face of Pablo Escobar and even his brother, alias El Osito, according to local media.

The property also had vehicle parts that had been shot at, apparently in the midst of clashes between members of the drug cartel and either cops or other criminals.

Liliana Donado, director of the Asset Forfeiture section of the Prosecutor’s Office said: “As part of the Argenta strategy ordered by the nation’s attorney general Francisco Barbosa, to impact the assets of organized crime and drug trafficking, the Prosecutor’s Office located a property that Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria acquired with illicit money obtained in the 80s and 90s.

“This property is the one in which articles alluding to the former head of the extinct Medellín cartel are currently displayed.

“The activities of the Judicial Police show that the property is being used commercially by Roberto de Jesus Escobar Gaviria, brother of the former drug trafficking leader, as a museum that was visited by tourists.”

The evidence collected by investigators shows that the property was inhabited continuously since it was acquired and that Pablo Escobar’s drug museum was a business bringing financial advantages to his brother, according to local media.
