This is the moment a driver is spotted doing silly stunts in the middle of traffic as he climbs onto the roof of his car and poses on top of it as if he is surfing.

An unnamed motorist filmed the bizarre scene in the middle of a street in Uberlandia, a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais, in south-eastern Brazil.

The video shows the unnamed man travelling in a white Volkswagen vehicle on a downhill stretch.

All of a sudden, he pops out of the driver’s side window and gets out of the car before climbing onto the roof.

Then, he balances himself and starts doing surf-like movements.

While he is busy posing, however, the car starts veering out of its lane and heads into the left lane.

The man tries entering back in a hurry through the window to hold the steering wheel, but not in time to prevent the wheels from going over the curb.

With his body still outside, he manages to turn the car back onto the street.

Just as he is about to hit a parked vehicle, he manages to squeeze back inside through the window and resumes driving as normal.

Local authorities later said they were aware of the incident and reminded all motorists that this type of reckless road behaviour is illegal.

If caught, the driver could face jail time ranging from six months to three years or a fine of BRL 88.38 (GBP 14) and his licence being revoked.
