This is the horrifying moment a nut believed to be high on drugs sets fire to a petrol tanker on a filling station forecourt.
Shocking CCTV security footage shows the lorry as it pumps thousands of litres of petrol into the petrol station’s underground storage tanks.
Without warning a man wearing a T-shirt, shorts, a baseball cap, sliders and carrying an axe handle marches up to the shaft leading the the tanks and sets off a cigarette lighter.
In a split second, a huge sheet of flame flies up from the tank forcing the firestarter and the horrified fuel trucker to flee.
But within moments the trucker returns and bravely risks the flames to turn off the pipeline pumping petrol into the now flaming tanks.
He is quickly joined by staff at the petrol station in Carire, in the state of Ceara, in Brazil, on 25th November, who tackle the blaze with fire extinguishers.
The police later seized the suspect who, it emerged, has a criminal record for rape and firearms offences, according to local media.
One eyewitness who reportedly knew the suspect said that he has drinking and mental health problems, according to reports.
The Security Secretariat later said the suspect was believed to be under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident.
