A father who told the police that he beat his eight-year-old daughter to death with a belt to “discipline her” has been arrested in Brazil.
Accused Ilias Olachegoun Adeniyi Adjafo first tortured helpless Aoulath Alyssah Rodrigues Damala before the deadly beating on 11th December, according to reports.
An autopsy reportedly found Aoulath had suffered horrific blunt-force trauma to her face, chest, back and arms.
He reportedly told investigators that he had only intended to “discipline” his daughter.
The police said that Adjafo was originally from Benin and had attacked his daughter at his home in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, after being told by a teacher at her school that she had taken home an item belonging to another pupil.
His lawyer, who has not been named, said that his client “did not know how to control his anger”.
He added that the dad was crying when he was arrested and that he was “repentant”.
But investigator Willians Pena told local media that the girl’s body showed signs of previous attacks.
The investigation is ongoing.
