A petite young woman has been arrested with 78 cocaine capsules inside her body, including 11 that were inside her vagina and discovered during an X-ray examination.
The 20-year-old woman, whose name has not been revealed and who weighed no more than 50 kilogrammes (110 lbs), arrived at the international airport of Ezeiza, located in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, to take flight IB 2606 to Barcelona on Saturday, 29th July.
She was reportedly very nervous and officers at the airport decided to stop her and give her a scan.
Airport police then discovered that the woman was carrying 11 capsules in condoms inside her vagina.
The Argentinian woman had also eaten 67 capsules that were found in her digestive system.
The authorities opened a case for attempted drug trafficking.
The woman refused to speak, with the judge then ordering her phone to be seized and her home in Villa del Parque, in Buenos Aires, to be raided.
She was taken to the Eurnekian Hospital, in Ezeiza, to have the drugs removed.
She was reportedly found to be carrying 742 grammes (1.6 lbs) of cocaine.
If found guilty, she faces up to 16 years in prison, according to local media.
The investigation is ongoing.
