A bodybuilder has been arrested for beating his young and beautiful wife to death before he took her to hospital, claiming she had suffered an accidental fall – and even posted on social media that he missed her as she fought for her life in the hospital.
Brutal Igor Porto Galvao was seized by police in Aparecida de Goiania, in Brazil’s central state of Goias, on Friday, 17th May.
He was initially detained for beating his partner, 31-year-old Marcela Luise, to a pulp and lying about her injuries to medical staff when he was forced to bring her to hospital on 10th May.
But Marcela had been so savagely beaten that she had fallen into a coma, and doctors did not believe Galvao’s claims.
They alerted police and Galvao was questioned by investigators.
He pleaded innocent, but police say his account of Marcela’s alleged fall did not explain all the broken bones and bruises she had suffered.
The police said in an earlier statement: “In light of the facts, the PCGO [Civil Police of Goias] initiated investigations and found that the victim had multiple injuries, including head trauma to the right and left sides and base of the skull, eight broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, abrasions on the thighs, mouth and eyes, among others.”
Delegate Bruna Coelho, from the Police Station Specialised in Women’s Assistance (Deam) of Aparecida de Goiania, detailed: “He [Galvao] told the medical team that she was cleaning the house when she slipped and fell.
“According to him, she convulsed and the injuries were caused by the fall.
“So, he gave her a bath and took her to the hospital, where she was immediately taken to surgery and then to the ICU.”
To further his story, the bodybuilder reportedly even made a post on social media stating that he “missed” his wife while she was still in a coma.
He reportedly wrote: “The longing and anguish that never ends. You have to come back soon.”
Investigators, however, learned that the house where the couple lived did not have stairs or any other slopes that would cause her to have such a devastating fall.
And further allegations of domestic violence previously brought forth against Galvao resulted in his arrest.
According to police, an ex-girlfriend of Galvao’s had also reported him for physically assaulting her.
Marcela’s injuries were so severe that she passed away at hospital on Monday night, 20th May.
Further investigation is ongoing.
