The model wife of legendary Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar has told how she is leaving him claiming he tried to control her money.
Actress Susana Werner, 46, took to social media to announce her separation from 44-year-old Cesar on 10th December.
Blonde Susana told her one million Instagram followers she had become a victim of property abuse.
She said: “Yes, we’ve been separated for a month, but the marriage hasn’t existed for many years. And yes, I’m very calm and decided.”
She claims the problem came to a head when she needed cash to carry out work on the family home and her father’s house at the same time.
Instead, she says, multi-millionaire Cesar kept on a strict allowance through a debit card account.
The penny still didn’t drop, though, until she read about another model Ana Hickmann’s problems with marital property abuse.
Susana said: “I only learned about it after the Ana Hickmann case. I only understood that I was part of this a short time ago.
“He was probably told to be like that and that it’s okay. In my mind, it’s wrong. That’s one of the reasons I’m leaving ‘Ah, Susana, is it for money?’ No, but love isn’t everything.”
She told her followers: “Women, don’t get married with the separation of assets.
“Everything you build together is yours, therefore, teach your daughters that we were born into inequality and we have a ‘duty’ to take care of the home, right?
“We have to take care of the children, of the husband and we are there for everything.
“But when the relationship ends, a woman can be hurt in all sorts of ways. Psychologically, morally and financially.
“Teach your daughters that what is built together belongs to the couple. Don’t get married with separation of assets, that’s not love for you!”
She also claimed she was not treated well in the marriage.
Susana said: “There’s no point in loving someone and they’re not proud of you, they don’t support you in the things you want to do, they don’t look at you.
“It was very difficult many years ago. I feel a lot of needs that aren’t met. There’s no way.”
However, she then said the hope is not lost and added in another post: “Not all men want to humiliate and diminish their life partners.
“There are great men who are examples today for so many boys out there.”
Susana and Cesar have been married for 21 years and have two children together.
She first announced their separation seven months ago (May) but said they were back together just 48 hours later.
At the time she said: “We were hasty. Our hearts hurt too much and we are not prepared to live far from each other.”
Cesar, who is now retired, was considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world and reportedly earned nearly USD 40 million (31.8 million) during his career.
As well as the Brazil national squad he played for celebrated clubs including Flamengo, Inter Milan, and Benfica.
