The charred remains of mum Bruna Angleri, 40, was discovered on 27th September at her home in Araras, Sao Paulo State.
Her purse and mobile phone had apparently been stolen but nothing else was missing, reports local media.
The mum-of-one had recently broken up with her boyfriend, who was banned from contacting her by a restraining order.
Police later quizzed her ex, not named in local media.
The pair had shared the home for seven months before he left in August.
His lawyer, named Wagner Moraes, later said: “He was asked to give a statement since his name as the main suspect began to circulate in the city.

“In his statement, he denied being guilty, he cooperated with everything, he left his cell phone to be examined, he gave details and names of the people he was with, and where he was and was released.”
Forensic medical examiners are trying to discover exactly how Angleri died and how the fire started.
Police chief Tabajara Zuliani dos Santos said: “The report is not yet ready, it depends on toxicological tests, details that may take a few days.
“A very violent crime, atypical for a city the size of Araras and we are dealing with countless possibilities.”
