Police in Brazil have seized more than seven tonnes of cannabis, three rifles, and ammunition worth over GBP 5 million in a hidden bunker underneath a pig farm.

The massive seizure took place as part of a mutual operation between Brazil’s Federal Police and the Border Police Battalion (BPFRON) on Thursday, 2nd November.

During the raid, police found the bunker located under the pig farm on a rural property in the city of Palotina, in the Brazilian state of Parana.

They found a total of 7,235 kilogrammes (15,950 lbs) of cannabis, a 7.62-millimetre Heckler and Koch HK417, and a 5.56-millimetre CZ BREN 2 Ms rifle that were reportedly loaded and ready to use.

In addition, more than 700 rifle bullets were discovered packed in a tactical bag.

Out of these, 257 had a 7.62-millimetre diameter, in addition to 400 rounds of 5.56-millimetre cartridges and a total of 44 12-gauge ammo.

A Toyota Yaris and a Giroflex 64 swivel chair were also found on the same property.

The worth of the seizure was estimated at BRL 32 million (GBP 5.2 million). No suspects were located in the residence at the time.

Brazil’s Federal Police said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “The seized materials were sent to the Guaira. Parana Federal Police Station.”
