This is the moment a daredevil teenager turns aside at the last moment to avoid crashing head-on with a tram while riding on one wheel.

Footage shows the reckless youngster doing a wheelie on the tramway tracks in the city centre of Medellin, in Antioquia Province, Colombia.

Wearing a black T-shirt, jeans and sneakers, the lad is filmed from behind as he swerves from side to side while doing the wheelie.

The driver of the approaching tramway can be heard blowing the horn in the footage local media first published on 12th December.

A collision appears inevitable, but at the last minute, the teen manages to steer clear before coolly continuing his show-off cycling on the sidewalk.

Local media have not named the cyclist. There is no information on whether the police are investigating the incident.

Social media users reacted with disbelief and mockery.

User ‘angelamaria.sanchez.71’ said: “He’s gambling. And when something happens, his mother will tell everyone what a good boy he was.”

‘manue.cm’ added: “And some people will surely ask why the tram would not stop.”

‘milamontor20’ argued: “That’s when they realise the importance of taking folic acid during pregnancy.”

‘juanreyesb98’ appealed: “Please don’t reproduce.”

And ‘edwinarteaga_27’ concluded: “Everyone dies how they want.”

Medellin is the second-largest city in Colombia and used to be one of the most dangerous places in the world as a result of wars between drug cartels in the 1980s.

However, reforms by a succession of campaigning mayors have reduced crime by 95 per cent and poverty by two-thirds and have taken the city a long way from the days when it was the home of the Medellín Cartel funded by Pablo Escobar.
